A group of students from the doctoral program of the Law Faculty of Diponegoro University, Semarang, held a visit to the Constitutional Court (MK), Monday (3/3). The group of 25 was welcomed by the Chief Justice of the Constitutional Court, Jimly Asshiddiqie, at the Conference Room 4th Floor of the Constitutional Court Building.

In the meeting, the Chief Justice delivered his wish that in the globalization era like today law scientists started to get used to internet. "The Library of Congress (in the USA) is the most complete library in the world. But internet is even more complete. Because there are thousands of people that can provide input to get there", explained the Chief Justice revealing the reason behind his wish.

Moreover, internet could assist law scientists to give law understanding to the people.

"When all regulation has been documented in the internet, a law scholar is not so needed to help people to understand law. Law is just a commodity. So, if someone willing to study law, that person will not have to bother come to a law expert. People will easily read it (the material-ed.) in the internet," He pointed out.

Besides that, the Chief Justice of the Constitutional Court also reminded the students who mostly are lecurers in law field that all regulations in law field should refer to the constitution.

"Moreover the 1945 Constitution is not merely a political constitution, it is also an economic constitution. The proof is, there is Chapter XIV on National Economic and Social Welfare. Because of that all regulation, including law of economy, should be based on constitution", explain the Chief Justice, who is also a Professor in Law Faculty of the University of Indonesia.

When answering a question from a student regarding the word usage in the 1945 Constitution most of which were technical; meanwhile ideally a constitution used general and philosophical words. The Chief Justice reminded that constitution was not a scientific document that related to right or wrong. "A Constitution is a social contract. The contract was a result of a compromise containing take and give materials. Not a matter of right or wrong,” He insisted. (Kencana Suluh Hikmah / Yogi Djatnika)
